This has been a weird year in school work is different because of the pandemic going on so that means we have to follow to all the school rules which is completely different to what its normally like. We are also have to follow what the government say which is that from Monday 14th September 2020 we cannot be with more than six people at a time. This is very strange because in classrooms you have to be with more than six people in in school in general. We also have to were masks and hand sanitise which is very reasonable because it be less likely to spread this pandemic has been going on from the start of the year and the rules keep on changing as the weeks go by.At first it was very panicking for the whole world as we was not aloud to go out school was closing, parents had to stop going work but as the months went by we are slowly going back to normal. These restrictions are also positive as we are very limited to do stuff so we can get creative and think outside the box and do things we would not normally do, artist are good at solving problems because when there in a difficult situation they find a way to solve it and because they also have very good mentality to never give up when things does not go your way and keep on trying until the find a puzzle to fix it, artist can also help us by being the school habits which is being inquisitive, persistent and being imaginative. |
instructionsIn order to take a photograph you have to make choices. For example:
We experimented with writing instructions for someone else to take a photograph. We then received a random instruction and made a photograph following it as precisely as possible.
Take a picture of sunlight
Here is my response: |

Marcel Duchamp & the Readymade
the most famous painting in the world! This portrait is the most popular and most expensive work of art in the world this picture is so popular because people claimed that because of her unique smile is so special, also her eyes people claimed that when you look into her eyes it follows you and its also unique.
This picture was also so popular that it was even stolen and there was a myth it was a Vampire. Mona Lisa is also the most visited portrait in the world right now still in 2020.The Mona Lisa broke a lot of hearts she was so famous that when the painting got loss everyone started panicking, the painting is also so popular that its in the most biggest prison in the world.Mona Lisa is 500 years old as it was made in 1505 but was stolen in 1911 it was then found in December 1913. The meaning 'L.H.O.O.Q' means Mona Lisa has a hot arse this was made by Duchamp. |
L.H.O.O.Q was Duchamp’s readymade pictures he decided to change it up a bit and make it very unique in a certain way, he also gave it a name which means the Mona lisa has got an hot arse. This was readymade as the picture was already famous and known but Duchamp creativity made it even more smart Duchamp wanted to show people a new way of art Duchamp actions were very popular and unique by giving the Mona Lisa a moustache, beard,. |

He has made many amazing pieces of art and they are very popular at the moment. I really like Kensuke's work because they are very unique and different from other artist especially how now its popular in art to make new pictures from old pictures.

hannah hoch collage analysis
This collage is loads of confusing pictures jumbled up together i can see loads of pictures together for example i can see a BMW logo i can see hair, a body of a women an old fashion lightbulb this collage could mean many different things i also think the artist who made this is german because the name and also the title which could suggest something also the BMW is german logo there are more than one thing is happening in this collage which is very unique.
The part in this collage that really sticks out to me is the women body and the old fashion lightbulb because its in the middle and the first thing you see when you look at the collage also it could mean way more and have more meaning to it than the rest, the women seems to be in a fashionable and old style clothes and shoes with the lightbulb on top of her, my theory of this collage as it is was made after the war a time when women weren't treated right and was only made housewives and were treated differently compared to men.

3d>2d>3D>2D
3D>2D is when shapes are turned into to either look 3D or 2D this is a very unique and cool way to look at photographs many artists now do it to make their photographs look unique and eye catching many artists explore this idea eg. Matt Lipps and many more artists.
matt lipps
Matt Lipps is an artist who uses a lot of the 3D>2D pictures he creates his images from newspaper or magazines Matt Lipps was a American photographer and artist he was born 1975 so he would be 45 years old now he now lives in LA calories Matt Lipps takes 3D images and flattens them down to 2D.
ROBERT HEINECKEN

collaborative instruction collage
You will need a pair of scissors, a glue stick, a camera phone, a piece of A3 cartridge paper and a magazine (containing interesting photos).
- Cut or tear out 5 pages from your magazine. Choose pages with interesting images.
- Make a pile of these 5 pages on your desk.
- Take the top page and cut a hole in it (Note: it doesn't have to be perfect).
- Pass this cut out image to your neighbour (the person sitting nearest to you in class).
- Put the page with the hole in it at the bottom of your pile.
- Take the (new) top page and tear it in half. Pass one half to your neighbour (the same one as before) and put the other half at the bottom of your pile.
- Take the (new) top page and cut out a shape (Note: you could cut round an object or simply cut a random shape of your own choosing).
- Keep the cut-out shape, putting it at the bottom of your pile, and pass the page that remains to someone 3 places away (Note: make sure you don't end up with your own page).
- Take the (new) top page and tear a strip from the (top or bottom) edge. Keep the strip and pass the remaining page to someone else in the room.
- Place the A3 sheet of cartridge paper in front of you (portrait format).
- Without altering them, arrange the pieces of paper from your pile on the A3 sheet to create a pleasing collage. Carefully photograph your first arrangement.
- Again, without altering them, repeat this process, re-arranging the various elements on the A3 sheet until you are happy with the results. Photograph carefully.
- You may now swap 1 or 2 elements with your neighbour. Make a new arrangement and photograph carefully.
- You may now adapt the pieces in any way you like - cutting, tearing etc. Make a new collage, this time sticking them to the A3 sheet of cartridge paper.
- Photograph your finished collage carefully.

PRISON PHOTOGRAPHY
Klavdjj sluban’s prison photography workshop.
They suddenly fall into a world called creation. |
klavdjj is a photographer who has been going to prisons in Italy France and many other countries in the world to share his knowledge as a photographer to teenage kids in prison klavdjj has chosen to work with teenage kids in prison because he feels like he could do more for there future or like impact it compared to older people in prison. He exchanged the ‘possibility’ of photography with people who have been denied liberty. Klavdjj wanted share this with the young prisoners as they have never witnessed it before because there isn’t a lot of freedom in where they are right now when klavdjj usually works with the young prisoners he gets told the same things every time that there isn’t a lot of things to photograph in the cell but klavdjj doesn’t let that get to them at first the young prisoners or students are very skeptical of him but as the time goes by he gains their trust slowly the photographer usually brings disposable cameras for the students.
|
The photographer notices a lot of things when working with the students but he mostly notices that some students don’t take a lot of different pictures and they don’t have a lot of ideas and that their not that imaginative or creative, he also notices that there is a few of them that start to think out the box as time goes by and they are with the camera longer this could be that they are getting comfortable now doing something they thought they wouldn’t be aloud to do it’s more like freedom to them.He hopes that after his left the prison his had a impact on what they would now do in the future Klavdjj knows this won’t impact many of them but he hopes it could at least impact them a little bit.
six frames
Today we was looking at another film of Klavdjj Sluban during his time in Georgia prison. These are the six screenshots I took because I found them interesting.
I chose these 6 pictures from the video because I felt like they really stood out more compared to the rest for me.
prison photograPhy
Today we looked at a prison photography book by Nicolo Digiorgis. These pictures were taken in a prison in Italy between 2013-2017. Digiorgis wanted to teach the prisoners about photography and that’s exactly what he did during those 4 years. He wanted to teach them there is more to life in a prison than just sitting around. In photography, pictures always have a background story to tell. During those 4 years Digiorgis and the prisoners took many types or genres of pictures which are all now published in a book .
Genre Treasure Hunt
I used the following list of 20 subjects to collect my pictures. I then decided what genre each picture might be:
- THE VIEW THROUGH A WINDOW
- YOUR REFLECTION IN A SHINY SURFACE
- THE BACK OF SOMEONE’S HEAD
- A SMALL OBJECT SHOT FROM A LOW ANGLE AGAINST A PLAIN BACKGROUND
- THE PALM OF SOMEONE’S HAND WITH THE WORD ‘HELP’ WRITTEN ON IT
- A SMILE
- A PLANT GROWING IN THE WRONG PLACE
- A CRACKED PAVING STONE
- A PILE OF CLOTHES
- THE CREASES IN A BED SHEET SHOT FROM ABOVE (WITH NOTHING ELSE INCLUDED)
- A CLOSE-UP PHOTOGRAPH OF A COMPUTER, PHONE OR TELEVISION SCREEN
- A MAP
- THE SPINE OF A BOOK
- THE INSIDE OF A FRIDGE
- THE SKY
- PART OF A FORK
- THE SOLE OF A SHOE
- THE CEILING OF YOUR BEDROOM AS YOU ARE LYING ON THE FLOOR
- A PHOTOGRAPH OF A PHOTOGRAPH
- A GLASS OF WATER
WWW:it was really fun and exiting doing this and i really enjoyed it because we got to go outside and also we could be creative too which was really awesome.
EBI: I be more creative and think outside the box next activity also be a little bit quicker because i was really slow this time !

A virtual field trip to new york
google streetview bingo.
We used a random word generator to create a location and subject for our next Google Street View experiment. Here's what were were asked to find.
- Taipei - Fruit
- Rome - Graffiti
- Nairobi - Sport
- Athens - Yellow Car
- Kingston - Arrow
- Taipei - Tall Building

blindfold collages
Its to prove you can still make good pictures while no being able to see we did this project because all year round we have not been able to do things to our advantage this is due to covid.
The PROCESS
Evaluation
I have really enjoyed this project as it showed me that not everything is impossible and you can still do things and its not that hard to do things even with huge restrictions. Every time you take a photograph there is an element of chance. You cant see everything with your eyes but the camera can. This activity removed my ability to see at all. The pictures I made were created almost entirely by chance. I had to "see" with my hands. This showed me that it still possible to make photographic images without looking.
I took these pictures blindfolded outside in the school concourse with my friend guiding me in places i found it really fun as i didn’t know the outcome
This is the work i was doing today i did make do and mend and i used some apps sir told me to download.
my plan
I want to re make vogue covers but using my friends family and me so i can have a white backdrop and i can take pictures and edit vogue on top of it so it can look like actual magazines i can also edit them by using apps this could be seen as make do and mend as instead of using already made vogue covers i can make my own and cut them up and use it on my website which could also help me be much more creative. After i take the pics i can cut them out and put it on a black cardboard paper i have done this before but with already made vogue pictures of models.I’m also gonna take pictures of me at home and then use them also to be apart of my project these are some examples.
WHAT HAPPENED...
My Favourite Images:
WWW:
I THINK MANY THINGS WENT WELL AND I REALLY ENJOYED THE WHOLE DAY IN PHOTOGRAPHY AS IT WAS SO CREATIVE AND I COULD DO ANYTHING I WANTED IF IT HAD TO DO WITH MAKE DO AND MEND,I LOVED HOW I GOT TO MAKE THE DRESS AND ACTUALLY WEAR THE DRESS OVER A PROJECTOR MY FRIEND ALSO GOT TO WEAR THE DRESS.
|
EBI:IF I MADE MORE AND USED MORE PEOPLE SO I COULD TAKE PICTURES AND PUT IT UP ON MY WEBSITE.
|
OVERALL I PICKED THOSE TWO PICTURES AS ONE WAS STANDING STILL AND THE OTHER WAS SOMEONE MOVING AROUND SO ITS TWO DIFFERENT PICTURES THAT LOOKED REALLY AWESOME I ALSO LIKED THE ARM SHADOW ON THE SECOND PHOTO.
In conclusion this school photography year has been amazing and i have improved so much compared to last year i have become more creative in my photography ideas and i have also really enjoyed it and it’s been really fun, i’m also really proud of my work and i think that i’ve done the best and i’m really proud of how my website looks i could do with some improvement and that’s for me to work on next year overall i think i’ve done well.
when i first thought of make do and mend i thought it was something useless or pointless because i didn’t get the whole theme or the concept of it but once we starting working on it and the theme developed i started to understand what to do and how to get my way around it. during this we started many photographers/ artists one of them were Sharon Walters i think she was one of my favourite artists as she was very creative and posted nice things on her instagram for people to see. we also studied matt law .
i have carried many experiments one of my favourite was when we got a whole day to experiment and i made a dress ouch of cut out magazines and got to even try it on we also had many different types of experiments another one was when we went on google chrome and was in a different country and got orders to do it was very fun. The habit of mind i have exercised the most is taking my ideas to the next level.

when i first thought about the making day i wanted to take photographs of people and make a magazine an example of vogue but as it wasn't possible or it would have taken much longer than i had i had to rethink about and do something similar i used magazine pictures and cut them up to random pieces then stuck them on a piece of paper which made a dress i really loved it and thought it was amazing i also then “wore” the dress and took pictures on it from a projector.
my final outcomes were really good i’ve chosen to present my ideas in many different ways during the make do and mend project ,i was hoping to create many different pictures or just use pictures from magazines and re create it.I think i have successfully explored the theme in multiple ways.Things that are personal about my work is that i don’t ever know what i’m getting to do i always just make it up on the spot it’s also something i’ve always wanted to do because i loved taking pictures. I also try to make my work better than the previous work so i try hard each time, i hope viewers will understand my work from looking at all the photographs i’ve taken or even what i’ve written on my weebly website.
